Amistad believes that all Christians have a duty to continually grow in the wisdom and knowledge of God so that we may learn to honor and appreciate Him for who He is and who He has made us to be. All good and true science, art, math, philosophies, etc. prove and point to God as the Creator and Author of all things. By growing in our knowledge of His creation, we learn to appreciate the Creator, since, as Paul writes, “…his eternal power and divine nature have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made.” (Romans 1:20).
We realize, though, that all learning is meaningless if not based on a foundation of faith in the One who, alone, can provide true knowledge and wisdom. When we make God the center of our learning, our pursuit of learning finds its purpose.
On a given Sunday morning at Amistad you will find educators, school counselors, medical associates, tradesmen, artists, software consultants, therapists, technicians - all working and serving together with a purpose to love God and love their neighbor. Our hope is that, as you begin your career in higher education, you will find your purpose not in the books, the classes, the professors, the tests, the nervousness and anxiousness of it all, but in the One who has already prepared you for something so much greater than what we could imagine.
